In this recording, an unknown person uses a racial epithet against one of Huda’s castmates from Love Island, a woman named Olandria Carthen.
Rather than shock and outrage over this utterance, Huda and Louis are captured on tape laughing and abruptly hanging up the phone. Their laughter lasted mere seconds, but was enough to spark a firestorm of controversy on the internet.

Huda didn’t have any intention to let this controversy define this moment. So, Huda took to Instagram Stories and shared an explanation for all this. Huda and Louis had not even known this woman’s name but had known this derogatory term and had immediately hung up.
She wrote:
“Y’all first of all click bait using a sensitive topic is actually insane. Me and Louis did not hear what was said in that no caller ID call on live, only the racial slur which we hung up immediately. I don’t condone anything of the sort…”
Huda doubled down and emphasized that they were not laughing but were actually nervous about a situation. “Laughter was because it was AWKWARD,” Huda tweeted while highlighting that she had actually asked in a stream. “‘what did they say?’”
Louis Russell Says Y’all Got Him Twisted
Louis Russell chipped in as well. The Snapchat star took to Snapchat to come to Huda’s defense. Louis made it a point to remind his followers that the clip that had gone viral had actually been taken out of context. In fact, Louis emphasized that he is a black individual in a bid to convey that they are not racist. The group had actually been ambushed.
