Rapper and OnlyFans creator Hugo D. Almonte is facing backlash after outing singer Khalid on X (formerly Twitter) last week. Now, Hugo is trying to make amends, addressing the controversy in a heartfelt apology posted to his Instagram Stories.
“I’m truly sorry for putting Khalid’s business out there like that,” Hugo began, acknowledging the harm caused by his actions. But along with his apology, he shared his version of the events that led to the public fallout, making allegations of “emotional abuse, manipulation, and relentless lies” during their time together.
Hugo explained that he and Khalid first connected at a party a few years ago, which eventually led to a private relationship. Things took a turn, however, when Hugo claimed Khalid began spreading rumors about him breaking into Khalid’s home and stealing from him—a claim Hugo vehemently denies.
“These lies destroyed me,” Hugo wrote. “I tried to move on, but the constant manipulation and threats took a toll on my mental health. I was emotionally drained and didn’t recognize myself anymore.”
Hugo admitted that the stress and emotional strain pushed him to a breaking point, leading to the public outing he now regrets. “It was wrong, and I own that. I should have handled things differently,” he wrote, promising to approach conflicts more constructively in the future. He also shared that he is focusing on healing and self-reflection.
Meanwhile, Khalid responded with a mix of humor and honesty on X, sharing a post featuring a rainbow emoji and exclamation points, captioned, “There y’all go. Next topic please lol.”
In a follow-up post, Khalid addressed the situation more directly, expressing that while he was outed, he refuses to feel ashamed of his sexuality. “I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao): I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it ain’t nobody’s business! But I am okay with me. Love y’all.”
