Country star Ingrid Andress is taking responsibility for her now-infamous rendition of the National Anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby. The performance, widely ridiculed online, prompted Andress to come clean about battling a problem with alcohol.
In a social media statement, Andress admitted, “I’m not gonna bulls***t y’all, I was drunk last night.” She went on to announce she’s checking herself into a treatment facility “to get the help I need.”
The news comes after widespread criticism of Andress’s performance, with many calling it “cringe-worthy.” While unfortunate timing, it’s not the first time the National Anthem has been mangled at a sporting event. Comparisons were drawn to Fergie’s much-discussed performance in 2018.
Andress expressed remorse for her actions, stating, “That was not me last night.” She apologized to fans and the nation for the performance.
Details surrounding the specific treatment facility and the duration of her stay remain undisclosed. However, Andress’s statement suggests a commitment to recovery.
Despite this setback, Andress boasts a promising career. A four-time Grammy nominee, she’s garnered recognition within the country music scene. This incident seems to be a bump in the road for the talented singer.

Addiction is a disease and hopefully she uses this opportunity to get the help and recovery she is hoping for!
12 1/2 years sober here. The best thing I ever did for myself is to quit drinking.. It’s like I was given a second chance in life and thank God every day for this opportunity. I am blessed way more than I deserve. I will pray for her to overcome this awful addiction.
Personally: I think she did this on purpose to go viral. Unfortunately, that’s the world we live in.
If she is honestly struggling with addiction, I’m happy she’s getting help.
Well at least she recognizes she has a problem. That’s the first step. And the second is her getting checked in. The best decision she could do for herself.
Definitely. As someone who will be clean and sober for 35 years, as of tomorrow, if I don’t fall off the wagon tonight (I’ll never take my sobriety for granted), I wish her all the best in her recovery.
You know what? I can forgive her because she recognized her illness and chose on her own to get help. I pray that she is able to find the help she needs and gets a second chance to make it right again.
She gets as many chances as it takes. Addiction is deadly. It takes everything from you first then it kills. I pray she chooses life. She’s worth it.
Ingrid Andress looked and definitely sounded drunk. Good for her to recognize her addiction.
Good for her. Most people don’t know how hard it is to look in the mirror and actually see what’s looking back at you. It’s even harder to admit you have a problem you can’t control.
