A tragedy has unfolded in the Jenin refugee camp as Israeli forces allegedly shot and killed two Palestinian children, according to reports from the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The victims were identified as Adam al-Ghoul, nine years old, and Basil Suleiman Abu al-Wafa, 15.
The incident occurred during an extensive Israeli assault on the camp, which has been a focal point of resistance and has been subjected to multiple invasions in the last year. Locals in the Damj neighborhood reported forced evacuations due to significant destruction caused by Israeli weaponry.
CCTV footage of Ghoul’s death went viral on social media, causing outrage. Ghoul is seen running before collapsing, presumably from a gunshot. Another boy can be seen dragging him off the street, surrounded by blood.
Many others have condemned Israel’s forces after video of Basil Suleiman Abu Al-Wafa’s death surfaced on the internet.
Husam Zumlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Kingdom, condemned the incident, saying, “Unarmed and running away, but Israeli soldiers still killed this child in Jenin today in the same indiscriminate manner that they have been killing thousands of children in Gaza.”
This tragic event adds to the toll of Palestinian casualties, with at least 227 Palestinians killed and over 3,000 detained by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank over the last 50 days. The situation continues to cause concern and draw international attention to the region’s ongoing conflict.
