Sorry, Insecure fans, but it appears Jay Ellis (Lawrence) won’t be returning for much of the show’s third season.
In a recent radio interview on The Angie Martinez Show, Ellis revealed that he hasn’t heard anything about whether or not his character will appear in the upcoming season, which is already in production. Heart. Breaks.
He said, “I’m a little bit out of it. I’m not really…they’ve been filming for the last six or seven weeks or something like that.”
Season two of Insecure concluded with on-screen couple Issa (Issa Rae) and Lawrence (Ellis) deciding to explore new relationships. According to Ellis, it was probably his character’s last hoorah. He added, “I don’t know if there is a relationship. There was closure at the end. There was like full closure.”
Only time will tell. Season three of Insecure is expected to premiere on HBO on August 12th of this year.
