Jay-Z’s empire continues to grow. The first billionaire rapper in the world, has now set his sights on the world of cannabis and launches his own brand Monogram.
The 50-year-old American wants to “redefine what cannabis means to consumers today with his brand,” said the press release announcing the launch of Monogram on Friday. Jay does this through “careful selection of strains, meticulous breeding methods and uncompromising quality.”
The music mogul was hired as a strategist at the cannabis company Caliva last year. Monogram was born from that collaboration. It is not yet clear when the products will be available and where. However, there are plans to launch a digital platform to sell the cannabis products.
Other companies Hov has set up include the streaming service Tidal and entertainment company Roc Nation. The rapper also bought shares in companies such as Uber and the champagne brand Armand de Brignac. Jay-Z is also part-owner of cognac D’Ussé, which is a joint venture with Bacardi that’s estimated to be worth $100 million.
