Late on the night of February 29th, a private jet carrying Colombian reggaetón sensation Karol G made an emergency landing at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, California, according to video footage obtained by various news outlets.
The twin-engine aircraft, which had departed from a public airport northwest of downtown Burbank, was reportedly carrying a total of 16 passengers. Fortunately, the landing occurred without any incident after the pilot alerted authorities to a problem in the cockpit, as reported by KABC.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident in a statement released on the same day, identifying the plane as a twin-engine Gulfstream IV. The FAA stated that the pilot had reported “smoke in the cockpit” before safely landing the aircraft at Van Nuys Airport around 9 p.m. local time.
As investigations into the cause of the malfunction are ongoing, the FAA refrained from disclosing the identity of the passengers, including Karol G. The flight was reportedly bound for El Salvador International Airport after departing from Hollywood Burbank Airport.
In the footage shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Karol G can be seen disembarking from the plane and interacting with emergency crews and acquaintances on the tarmac. The 33-year-old singer appeared composed as she descended the stairs, shaking hands and sharing embraces with those present.
Of note in the video is a board sign near the aircraft bearing the inscription “Mañana Será Bonito Tour,” hinting at the singer’s ongoing concert series across Latin America. With scheduled performances in Guatemala City on March 1st and 2nd, uncertainty looms over whether the emergency landing will affect the tour’s itinerary.
Despite the dramatic incident, Karol G has yet to address the situation on her social media channels, leaving fans and followers in anticipation of any updates regarding the status of her tour. As of now, it remains unclear whether the tour schedule will be impacted by the unforeseen events surrounding the emergency landing.
