Actress, writer, and director Keana Marie is set to make her mark in 2020 as she stars in the upcoming Netflix series “Dash & Lily” set to premiere November 10. Born in Nice, France to a Brazilian mother and a French father, both artists, her parents always knew Keana would be in front of the lens. She developed a love for the performing arts first through dance and modeling. At the age of 8, Keana and her family moved to Miami, Florida where she began acting in commercials and taking acting classes for TV and film. She quickly developed a passion for filmmaking. She would pick up her father’s video camera, and at other times prop her laptop on her shoulder as a means of bringing to life her creativity. When she reached high school, she attended Academy of Arts and Minds, a charter art school where she focused her studies on theater as well as film and photography.

Upon graduation, Keana moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Her curiosity for filmmaking prompted her to enroll in film school where she studied cinematography for a year before deciding to fully dedicate her time to acting. As her acting career flourished, her love for telling stories grew. She fell in love with screenwriting in 2019, prompting her to begin putting her thoughts on paper. One of these projects is her directorial debut “As The Tide Comes In,” a silent film that follows the puzzling in-betweens moving from a toxic relationship into a healthy one. The film, inspired by personal experiences, was even shot in Keana’s home adding to the authenticity of this intimate account and is meant to be a healing tool for others who are stuck in unhealthy relationships. The short film has received incredible feedback and is being submitted to film festivals. She recently began writing a series along with a feature film script and hopes to begin pre-production of her second short.

On the acting front, Keana will star as ‘Sofia’ in the new Netflix series “Dash & Lily” from Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps based on New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. She also stars as the female lead opposite Danny Ramirez and Lydia Hearst in Akatsuki Entertainment’s forthcoming film “Root Letter” which was adapted from the hit PlayStation video game. Previously, Keana heavily recurred on Netflix’s “Huge In France” opposite Gad Elmaleh and had a great arc on Netflix’s “Flaked” with scenes opposite Will Arnett. Keana won Best Lead Actress at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival and the Bogart Film Festival for her role in the film “Posthumous.”

We had the opportunity to interview Keana Marie about her upcoming new Netflix series, “Dash & Lily.”

When not acting or creating her next project, she dances, surfs and practices yoga. Among her talents, she speaks four languages, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
