A 20-year-old father has been charged with crimes following the discovery of his daughter unconscious and floating inside a tub. The child’s father had gone elsewhere to be on his phone.
The man known by his first name, Seffan Mederious, of Covington, Kentucky, has been arrested because of the alleged neglect that took place on May 26th. Authorities were summoned to assist a baby who hadn’t moved for five minutes. Mederious told authorities he was unaware of what had occurred.
Following the discovery of his child, Mederious fled the scene and headed over to a relative’s house without waiting to assist emergency responders or investigators. In addition, the father failed to check up on his daughter when the hospital attempted to contact him later.
County officials described Mederious’s actions as reckless.
Charges of wanton endangerment and criminal abuse have been filed against Mederious, whose court hearing has been scheduled for May 27th.
The infant is expected to make a full recovery.
