Kick streamer Clavicular (real name Braden Eric Peters) recently offered an apology after inadvertently coming into contact with a fan when posing for a picture. According to him, it was because he violated a particular religious taboo regarding touching a girl wearing a hijab.

In his own words, “I forgot, it’s my bad,” Peters said. “I forgot if you’re a girl wearing a hijab, I’m not supposed to touch.” The female fan, wearing a hijab, seemed fine with the whole incident.

The incident occurred during one of his in-person streams, where he goes out into the streets and streams live. It went viral online soon after, prompting a range of responses.

Most people admired Peters for realizing his mistake. Other people noted that his apologetic manner conflicted with his generally confident character as presented in his other online posts. Lastly, some people found it strange that the fan approached Peters at all.

The response online ranged widely. In particular, one person commented, “It looks like Clavicular should be very different from a liberal Muslim woman, but she still allows this. Popularity is better than morals.” Another person remarked: “Reading the comments made me realize that men of any race have some sort of racial anxiety.”
