Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva, 25, who was known to be a lifestyle influencer, lost her life when she was allegedly pushed from a balcony by her husband, who has since been arrested for femicide.
Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva is suspected to have died after she fell from the 10th floor balcony of an apartment that she and her husband, 40-year-old Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, shared in Brazil. Maria relocated to Sãopaulo in pursuit of better job prospects and also has a daughter from a preceding relationship.
According to reports, this couple had an argument prior to this occurrence. The emergency responders were called, and they found Alex with his wife’s body. He stated that his wife had taken her life. However, reports indicate the police claim CCTV footage in the building disputes this.
According to The Sun, the video “depicts a series of physical assaults” in the run-up to Gomes da Silva’s death. It is also alleged that she was beaten by her husband in the car park leading to the incident and that he was seen to grab her neck in a elevator inside a building.
The individual is also reported to have been seen pulling his wife out of the lift, before returning a minute later to the lift, where he collapsed with his head in his hands. Shortly after, Gomes da Silva collapsed and died.
According to local news, the police were called by the victim’s neighbors, who had heard screaming and a loud thud. Nine days later, a suspect, Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, was arrested for femicide.
In a statement, the Public Security Secretariat reported that the investigation continues, and forensic analysis and other inquiries are required to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death.
