Lil Nas X is known for his hit single, “Old Town Road” and breaking the record for longest consecutive run in the Number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart according to Billboard. Many thought that he would be another one hit wonder, but Lil Nas X has released other songs such as “Panini” and “Rodeo” his collaboration with Cardi B.

Earlier this week, Lil Nas X raised controversy with his music video for his latest single, “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)”, because it wasn’t your normal Lil Nas X video, or a normal musician’s video to say the least.

The music video received backlash from all angles because of the satanic agenda that was shown throughout the whole video. The music video featured Lil Nas X as many characters in Biblical and mythology-like scenes, but the scene that was controversial was a scene of Lil Nas X going to hell on a stripper pole. Following that scene, Lil Nas X then proceeds to give Satan a lap dance and soon after snaps his neck to then crown himself with the horns. Many may perceive this music video to be demonic and going against the Christian norms that one should follow, but Lil Nas X had a deeper agenda behind this video. Lil Nas X came out as gay back in 2019 and has took pride in it since then. According to an interview he had with TIME Magazine,  he wants society to be more accepting of the LGBTQ+ community and he feels that people in the gay community should no longer live in the dark because of what society thinks.

Lil Nas X wanted to stir up conversation in normalizing gay culture and same-sex lust in music and he knew this video would get the reactions that it was getting so he decided to step it up a notch. On Monday, Lil Nas X announced his collaboration with MSCHF for the new release of their “Satan Shoe”. The shoes featured a bronze pentagram, an inverted cross, and a drop of real human blood. The shoes sold out in less than a minute, but Nike denied any involvement in the shoes and soon after stated that they will be suing the company because of this matter.

During all the controversy from many news outlets and parents saying that Lil Nas X is corrupting their children, his response to all of this is all humor. Lil Nas X’s social media contains all memes and Tik Toks regarding his controversial decisions in the past week. He also released an apology video about the “Satan Shoe”, but the video cuts out before he could apologize which is a prime Lil Nas X response to all of this.
