Grammy-winning artist Lizzo recently opened up about the ongoing lawsuit filed against her by three former backup dancers during her appearance on the podcast Baby, This Is Keke Palmer.
The lawsuit, which came to light in August 2023, alleges claims of sexual harassment, racial discrimination, and the fostering of a hostile work environment.
In a candid conversation with host Keke Palmer, Lizzo expressed her shock and disappointment over the allegations, describing the situation as emotionally taxing.
“I was deeply hurt… These were people I gave opportunities to,” Lizzo said. She also dismissed some of the claims as “silly,” firmly stating, “Let’s be clear, I did nothing wrong.” However, Lizzo acknowledged the experience as a valuable learning moment, particularly regarding her responsibilities as a leader.
The lawsuit, filed by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, includes allegations that Lizzo pressured her dancers to touch nude performers during a visit to a club in Amsterdam and accused her Big Grrrl touring company of weight-shaming and unfair treatment of Black dancers.
Lizzo’s response to the lawsuit has remained consistent—denying the claims while maintaining her commitment to her artistic and professional values.
In her podcast appearance, Lizzo mentioned being “dismissed” from the case, a claim that has sparked clarification from the plaintiffs’ attorney, Ron Zambrano.
Speaking to People, Zambrano explained that her dismissal was procedural, not a ruling on the validity of the allegations. “The lawsuit is still very active,” he said, emphasizing that Lizzo has not been exonerated.
