Vasana Montgomery has been booted from Love Island USA Season 8 days after she was cast as a contestant amid allegations that videos featuring her using a racial slur went viral, per TMZ.
According to sources quoted by TMZ, Vasana will not appear on the Peacock reality show after two videos surfaced. First, in one of the videos, Montgomery uses the racial slur while rapping to a song. In another, she is caught uttering the slur while playing an arcade machine alongside a friend.
According to TMZ’s sources, the videos were private, meaning the footage had not reached anyone other than the contestants in the cast before the videos became public domain, allowing the contestants to get through the show’s casting process.
Reps for Love Island USA and the TV network declined to comment when reached out about the incident.
This latest controversy is eerily reminiscent of a similar occurrence last season, when Yulissa Escobar was pulled off Love Island USA Season 7 after audio recordings of her podcast featuring her using racial slurs became public.
The consecutive scandals have drawn more attention to the pre-show screening process used by the producers of the much-anticipated dating contest.
