Social media has been calling for the removal of Vasana Montgomery, a contestant of Love Island USA season 8, following resurfaced videos where she uses a racial slur from years ago.

This started when a user on social media posted videos of Montgomery while she’s either singing or mouthing the lyrics while sitting in a car and under neon lights, saying “VASANA GOTTA GO!”

The recent backlash is further exacerbated by similarities to an earlier instance in which a contestant named Yulissa was accused of the same conduct, leading to a conversation about removal from the show.

“Please @loveislandusa, Do Better Background Checks. How did they know about these videos popping up after the cast was announced? Did they not go undercover in those cities and talk to everyone they ever interacted with?”

“Why weren’t these videos dug up before the contestants were even announced?” another commentator said.

Another commented sarcastically, “Love Island USA Fans should be working for the FBI, because seriously.”

The controversy over Yulissa resurfaced, with one commentator saying, “Yulissa trapped us in an infinite time loop, and we’ll never get a good Love Island season again.”

As of the time of writing, no official statement has been issued by Peacock or the producers regarding this situation.

Love Island USA Season 8 is set to debut exclusively on Peacock on Tuesday, June 2, with a new episode premiering daily at 6 p.m. PT/ 9 p.m. ET in premiere week, followed by daily episodes with the exception of Wednesday. Viewers may vote for their favorite couples through the Love Island USA app.

Love Island USA is a joint production by ITV America, Lifted Entertainment, Motion Entertainment, WPP Media Company, and distributed by ITV Studios.
