Man City player Ruben Dias finally gave his side of the story on Thursday, debunking claims that he had cheated on Jama, a famous British TV presenter, whom he dated for two years.
Dias took to Instagram to make his claims known after learning that his family members were aware of false speculations regarding his relationship.
“I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I’ve cheated on my girlfriend because he’s seen it repeatedly on the news, that’s where I draw the line on what’s acceptable and what’s not,” Dias wrote.
Although he did not specify when the breakup occurred, he stated that he had not cheated and had never intended to do so, since respect had formed the foundation of their relationship.
“I didn’t cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to,” he wrote, adding that repeated falsehoods can begin to feel credible over time. “I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world.”
Dias further emphasized that whatever led to the breakdown of the relationship will be kept confidential, adding that he has always tried to handle matters privately with his significant other and that he believes they both handled this situation maturely.
“I’ve always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only,” Dias wrote. “But I also believe it’s wrong to lie to people and to portray an opposite image of someone just for clickbait.”
He then signed off with an appeal to the public, saying, “Respect me, respect Maya, and understand that not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end.”

It is important to note that Jama, who works on the British dating show “Love Island,” has not yet commented on her breakup from Dias.
