Pop musician Olivia Rodrigo states that she does not feel afraid to use her voice on political issues such as immigration enforcement and the Gaza conflict, and that, for her, sharing opinions on these issues is natural as part of her role as an artist.

During the Popcast interview, the pop star explains that she makes every effort to stay up to date in the field she is speaking about, but admits that her knowledge has its limits.

“I really try to stay educated on things. I make a conscious effort to try my very best because I think that’s important for everyone. But I don’t know everything,” Rodrigo noted.

Rodrigo, known for her strong anti-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement positions and statements about Gaza, thinks that political opinions are inseparable from her artistic activity.

“I think it would just be disingenuous to be like, I don’t feel heartbroken about what’s going on in Gaza. As an artist, I feel like that’s just what you do. And that’s my job,” she said.

Rodrigo admitted that although she sometimes thinks she does not deserve extra gratitude for political statements, she still feels she can be more active and vocal in discussing topics of concern.

“I always feel like I could be doing more and saying more,” the singer added.

Finally, she admits that she feels no need to remain silent about the issues and has never faced any pressure from others to do so.
