In fact, Lovie Simone just opened the door to Gotham through an Instagram post.

She posted an article from Filmthusiast about Scarlett Johansson possibly joining The Batman Part II, and possibly not joining the cast, with Catwoman, played by Zoë Kravitz, possibly not joining either. She captioned it, “Put me in, coach”: four words, big ambition.

The timing couldn’t be better. Simone is doing well as Keisha Clark on Netflix’s Forever, which offers a new spin on the original series and explores young love in the future world of 2025 Los Angeles. Simone’s series premiered back in May and was renewed shortly after, and it’s obvious that the network sees her as the future.

This kind of direct play for Gotham feels less like rumor and speculation and more like expert submission to the algorithm. Fans took to picturing her in every kind of role, from vigilante to battered femme fatale, and DC fans pondered whether the dark world of Matt Reeves’ Gotham needs new faces.

If Hollywood is listening, Simone just sent out her own Bat signal, and she did it with a smile.
