Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia star as best childhood friends who con their way into the ruthless college dance team in the upcoming comedy Best of the Best by director Lena Khan, with the official trailer now released.
In the Netflix film, Maya and Anjali have been friends for years as they try out for the fiercely competitive Bollywood fusion team at UCLA and realize that winning the U.S. Championship is tougher and more intense than they thought.
Hasan Minhaj penned the script with Prashanth Venkataramanujam, who also appears in the film alongside actors like Ankur Rathee, Janina Gavankar, Chaneil Kular, Becky Alex, and Shreya Navile.
Others include Nihar Duvvuri, Nico Greetham, Amryn Khurana, Tanishq Joshi, Lilly Singh, Saara Chaudry, Sasha Bhasin, and Kavi Ramachandran.
Lena Khan directs from the screenplay written by Minhaj and Venkataramanujam. Jonathan Eirich produces through Rideback, while Minhaj and Venkataramanujam back the film through 186K Films. Ellen H. Schwartz and Ryan Halprin are the executive producers.
Phillip Chbeeb and Makenzie Chbeeb handle the dance choreography, with Joya Kazi as co-choreographer.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan has gained fame as the lead actress in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever. Hasan Minhaj, who was once a correspondent at The Daily Show, hosted the Netflix news comedy Patriot Act.
The film will stream on Netflix worldwide from September 18th.
