Marquez Jayshown Smith: Popeyes Manager Arrested For Hitting 16-Year-Old Female Employee

A video of a Popeyes manager slapping one of his employees has gone viral on social media this week.

The Popeyes manager has been identified as Marquez Jayshown Smith. He has been arrested after being caught on camera slapping a 16-year-old female employee. The incident allegedly started because the teenage girl wanted to clock out and Marquez had a problem with it. He escalated the situation by putting his hands on her and then challenged her to fight in the fast food restaurant.

Smith has been charged with battery & cruelty to a minor in the first degree. Popeyes has also fired Marquez Smith. The company released a statement addressing the incident via Twitter.

We are absolutely horrified, like the rest of the public. The employee responsible for the assault was immediately terminated by the franchisee. We are working with local authorities and the franchisee to ensure the impacted team member has the support she needs to fully recover.
