Philadelphia City Council officially declared Friday, Saturday and Sunday Meek Mill Weekend.

Meek Mill will perform this weekend at Philadelphia’s newly revamped Metropolitan Opera House.

City Council President Darrell Clarke made the proclamation Thursday morning. He was joined by State Sen. Sharif Street in praising Mill, whose legal troubles catapulted him into national stardom as a criminal justice advocate and critic of mass incarceration.

Meek Mill has done a lot of great things for his city. He has been giving back to the youth and helping them get into college. He teamed up with Puma to recreate a basketball court in the neighborhood he grew up. Also, partnered up with his good friend Michael Rubin and Jay-Z to create Reform. The organization’s mission is to “[advance] criminal justice reform and [eliminate] outdated laws that perpetuate injustice, starting with probation and parole.”
