Meet The Cast of ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County,’ From Bobbi Althoff to Jen Affleck

Hulu is bringing The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives to the West Coast as a spin-off titled The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County. All ten episodes of the spin-off will debut on November 12 on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States for subscribers who have a bundle subscription, and on Disney+ internationally.

The new series follows a group of mothers whose lives “collide in a community where beliefs are not just their religion; they are their identity,” according to Hulu. While some women in the group try to cling to their traditional way of life, others seek change and try to break through the status quo. Scandals, secrets, and falling masks await as the group tries to create its own version of the popular #MomTok, a collection of Utah influencers at the center of the original show.

Ashleigh Pease, Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Bobbi Althoff, Jen Affleck, Jordan McClanahan, Madison Bontempo, McCall DaPron, and Salomé Andrea make up the cast.

Affleck will serve as the familiar face in the spin-off. She was a cast member of the original Mormon Wives series. Raised as a Mormon in the San Francisco Bay Area, she said in an interview that she would be moving to Los Angeles after leaving season 34 of Dancing With the Stars in late 2025. Despite her absence from Hulu’s initial cast announcement, she later confirmed on Instagram that she was joining the show.

Althoff is another notable newcomer joining the cast. She hosts the satirical, funny The Really Good Podcast, known for its deadpan delivery and awkward celebrity interviews. A mother of two girls, Althoff started building her following with her videos satirizing motherhood.

A native Utah girl, Ovard is one of YouTube’s earliest lifestyle creators and a mother of three children. Since her divorce from Parker Ferris in 2024, she has been talking about exploring her bisexuality publicly.

Woods first gained fame online as a pediatric intensive care nurse and later quit healthcare to create content full-time. Woods also runs her podcast called Cheers! with Avery Woods.

DaPron is the elder sister of original cast member Mayci Neeley. A former Division I tennis player at Brigham Young University and UCLA, she is a mother of four and creates content revolving around homemaking and sourdough baking.

Bontempo and her husband, Kyler Fisher, create content with their five children on their YouTube channel, The FishFam. Bontempo began her career by making sketches with influencers in Los Angeles.

Pease will become the first Australian-born cast member of the franchise and is a mother of four. As a native of Utah and a mother of twins, Andrea has shown on social media how she carved her own path after being raised in the faith.

Like the original, the spin-off includes devout members and those who have distanced themselves from the faith. Ovard and Woods are known for having distanced themselves from the church, while Andrea, Bontempo, and DaPron identify themselves as Mormons or have been brought up in the faith. At the revelation of the cast, online users had a lot of questions about whether the women are Mormons or not.

On April 22, Hulu announced the spin-off at its Get Real House event in Beverly Hills. The original cast members Miranda Hope, Layla Taylor, Mayci Neeley, and Jessi Draper introduced the new cast. “We want to give people a little taste of how the West Coast lives,” Ovard said at the event.

Orange County, with its large Mormon community, has become appealing to the executives. Jeff Jenkins, the executive producer behind both shows, has openly talked about it. “Mormons are fascinating,” he said to Deadline.

The original series premiered on Sept. 6, 2024. Featuring a group of Utah TikTok influencers named MomTok, it has ranked No. 1 on Hulu’s Top 15 Today list for its third season. According to the streamer, viewership has increased with each season.

While the spin-off makes its way, the flagship faces upheavals. The fifth season, which aired on Sept. 10, consists of only five episodes as the production was paused in March while Draper and Utah police were investigating domestic violence accusations against Taylor Frankie Paul, one of the stars of the show, and her former partner, Dakota Mortensen. Whitney Leavitt announced that the fifth season will be her last and that Paul will not be returning. Hulu has ordered twenty more episodes of the original series.

The church has tried to distance itself from the franchise, issuing a statement before the premiere of the first season of 2024 without mentioning the show’s name, according to The Associated Press.
