Jameela Jamil Says the Accused Cornell 7 “Shouldn’t Be Allowed P*nises Anymore” and Calls for Jail Time and Legal Castration After Gang Rape Allegations

Jameela Jamil has advocated for jail time and castration of seven Cornell University students accused of drugging and raping a female classmate in a fraternity house in October 2024.

“I think the likes of the Cornell 7 shouldn’t be allowed p*nises anymore. They used them as weapons, so now they have to be confiscated. I think jail time, legal castration and a removal of the sh*ft seems like the bare minimum,” she wrote on Instagram, adding eggplant and knife emojis to the message.

Jamil, known for her part in “The Good Place” show, joins other celebrities making statements on the case. Mariska Hargitay, Josh Gad, and Hudson Williams posted condemnations of the Cornell 7; this is how the seven students accused of rape are referred to online. Florence Pugh was also one of the first celebrities to comment on the case.

According to Jane Doe, the alleged victim of the crime, the 20-year-old girl went to the Chi Phi fraternity house in Cornell on Oct. 19, 2024, to see her friend who belonged to the fraternity. Doe claimed that she was persuaded to snort ketamine, smoke marijuana, and drink alcohol prior to being sexually assaulted.

Now, she is filing a lawsuit against the man she believes raped her, as well as against their fraternity, Cornell University, and her former sorority. The suit claims violation of contract and negligence, as well as infringement of state laws. The complaint does not specify any monetary compensation.

The Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office reopened its investigation into the case on Monday. New York Governor Kathy Hochul called for hiring outside counsel to review the school’s response to the incident.

No criminal charges were filed when the case was initially investigated. According to District Attorney Matthew Van Houten, there were no claims of drug use or gang-rape in the statement Jane Doe made in November 2024, while her attorney asserts that the allegations were never investigated.

Cornell said a Title IX investigation lasted several months and ended with sanctions issued by a panel of faculty and staff after a hearing. The university refuses to disclose the number of expelled and suspended students due to federal privacy law.

The woman’s attorney claims only two of the seven students were expelled and that the rest received lesser sanctions, ranging from suspensions to mandatory workshops and writing assignments. The university denies claims that students were asked to write essays in lieu of punishment, calling the assertion false. The Chi Phi chapter has been banned from the Cornell campus since 2024.
