Megan Thee Stallion, a Texas-born rapper, has left 1501 Certified Entertainment for a new chapter in her career. Megan has signed a distribution deal with Warner Music Group (WMG), according to Billboard, which will allow her to maintain technical independence while receiving support from the industry behemoth.

Expressing her excitement about the newfound independence, Megan shared her enthusiasm on Instagram Live in October. “I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independently since it was just me and my momma,” she said. “I’m so excited ‘cause it’s really just me this go round.”

This move to WMG marks a fresh start for Megan following a contentious legal battle with her former label, 1501. The dispute was settled in October, with both parties reaching a confidential agreement to amicably part ways.

A representative for 1501 Certified Entertainment stated, “Megan Thee Stallion and 1501 Certified Entertainment are pleased to announce that they have mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences.

As part of the arrangement, both parties have agreed to amicably part ways. Both Megan and 1501 are pleased to put this matter behind them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses. All of us at 1501 wish Megan the very best in her life and career.”

Megan’s final album under 1501, “Traumazine,” released in 2022, reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200, marking the second-highest charting album of her career.

Returning to the independent scene, Megan dropped “Cobra,” her first single post-1501, in November. Describing the song as “the introduction of act one,” Megan hinted at more to come. “Cobra” debuted at No. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100, and its music video has garnered over 13 million views on YouTube.

As Megan Thee Stallion embraces this new phase in her career, the WMG distribution deal sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting and independent journey for the multi-platinum-selling rapper.
