Michael B. Jordan is currently trending on social media for being accused of cultural appropriation for starting a rum brand named J’overt based on Trinidad & Tobago.
In new images found on social media, you can see Michael B. Jordan taking a picture outside somewhere with the name and logo of his new rum brand.
Inside the J’ouvert box it says “Derived from the Antellian Creole French term meaning “daybreak,” J’OUVERT originated in the pre-dawn streets of Trinidad, as celebration of emancipation combined with Carnival season to serve as the festival informal commencements. Crafted on those same islands, J’OUVERT Rum is a tribute to the party start.”
Michael B. Jordan owns rum made in Trinidad? (I’m assuming “those same islands” mean Trinidad and Tobago? idk chile) pic.twitter.com/ZGDVIGG01Y

Michael B. Jordan co-founder in this new business venture is Scott Robert Williams. A social media users claims Scott was born in Trinidad but we have yet to confirm that.
Many found the J’ouvert Rum logo awkward because the map of Trinidad is drawn incorrectly on the box containing among other things, a bottle of rum, two bottles of Angostura Bitters, and a recipe for a J’ouvert Rum Old Fashion.
Many are wondering why they were allowed to trademark the name but a certain social media user sort of broke down how they were able to trademark the name, click to see how HERE.
J’ouvert Rum will be allegedly produced in America instead of Trinidad & Tobago.
We have reached out to Michael B. Jordan reps and we will keep you updated with more information about this story.

Hoping the Michael B Jordan scenario with ‘JOUVERT’ leads to a kickstart of international trade mark protection for 🇹🇹 brands. If we don’t do it, someone else will. Video incoming on trade mark protection

For someone whose largest role to date was centered on an antagonist fiercely against colonization, TRADEMARKING THE TRINIDADIAN WORD J’OUVERT IS EXACTLY THAT SIR.
