Michael Showalter’s ‘The Idea of You’ Sparks Excitement as SXSW Closing Night World Premiere with Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine

In a thrilling conclusion to this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, Michael Showalter’s latest masterpiece, “The Idea of You,” will fascinate audiences as the Closing Night World Premiere on Saturday, March 16th, at The Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas.

The film, which will be available globally on Prime Video on May 2, stars Anne Hathaway, Nicholas Galitzine, Ella Rubin, Reid Scott, Annie Mumolo, Raymond Cham Jr., Viktor White, Jaiden Anthony, Dakota Adan, Perry Mattfeld, Mathilda Gianopoulos, and Jordan Aaron Hall.

The screenplay, directed by Michael Showalter and written by Showalter and Jennifer Westfeldt, is based on Robinne Lee’s novel. The producers, Cathy Schulman, Gabrielle Union, Anne Hathaway, Robinne Lee, Eric Hayes, Michael Showalter, and Jordana Mollick, created a drama about the complications of love and aging.

“The Idea of You” follows Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mother who unexpectedly falls in love with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), lead singer of the chart-topping boy band August Moon. An accidental encounter at the Coachella Music Festival ignites an unmistakable spark, ushering them into a whirlwind relationship. However, the difficulties of Hayes’ superstar status quickly put a pall on their relationship, suggesting that life in the spotlight may be more than Solène bargained for.
