Bertha Yalter, a 71-year-old woman in North Miami Beach has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged attack on her husband that was triggered by a postcard from decades ago. The incident is horrific. According to USA Today, the incident began when her husband received a postcard from a woman he had dated 60 years earlier.

The elderly woman, who has been married to her husband for more than 50 years, was arrested on Monday. She is now facing significant accusations, including second-degree attempted murder, aggravated violence, and tampering with witnesses.

According to North Miami Beach police, the couple had a violent fight about the postcard, prompting the suspect to attempt to smother her husband with a pillow. Shockingly, she admitted to urinating on him during the confrontation.

According to the court supervising the case, detectives reported that the victim, who was described as “extremely fragile” following the incident, received significant injuries including “several serious bruises and open lacerations,” as well as “open bite marks that were bleeding.”

The 71-year-old woman is also charged with interfering with a witness, which adds to her legal problems. She reportedly stole the witness’ cell phone during the attack.

The accused is presently in jail without bond and is slated for another court appearance on Thursday. The judge has given a stringent order stating that if bail is granted, she is not allowed to contact her husband.
