A Tulsa mother, who allowed a man to rape and impregnate her 12-year-old daughter, is now in custody in Oklahoma, having pleaded guilty to her involvement in the appalling crime.
Desiree Castaneda, a woman from Texas, was charged with facilitating a sexual relationship between her daughter and the man, following the discovery of photos featuring the pair at her baby shower.
“The investigation revealed that the victim’s mother and family members were aware of the relationship between the victim and Miranda-Jara,” Tulsa police said on Facebook. “The family permitted the relationship, and there are photos of the family throwing a baby shower for the victim and the suspect.”
Tulsa police arrested Juan Miranda-Jara in 2021 after a 12-year-old girl arrived at a local hospital pregnant with his child. He received a two-decade prison sentence in March 2022 after pleading guilty to first-degree rape of a victim under the age of 14.
Castaneda was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and records show she must serve at least 85 percent of her sentence before being eligible for parole.
