Miss Grand International Pageant is mourning the passing away of Skarlent Rodriguez, who is known as Miss Grand Orlando 2025, after she died in an earthquake that hit Venezuela.
The Venezuelan model died alongside her boyfriend, José Castro, after a search for two days following two earthquakes that hit the country on June 24. 2,000 people are said to have lost their lives in the disaster, while many are still unaccounted for.
They were discovered dead at the same spot where they had been trapped in the debris of their collapsed apartment in Catia La Mar, La Guaira state.
Both bodies were discovered on Monday night by relatives.
“Sadly, both were found dead…side by side, together until the end,” read a post from their family on GoFundMe, where they have started raising funds to cover expenses resulting from their tragic deaths.
After confirmation of her death, the Miss Grand Florida issued a condolence note paying tribute to her.
Rodriguez is remembered as a graceful, kind, strong, and positive person who embodied the values of the Miss Grand Florida family with confidence and by inspiring others.
