Miss North Carolina USA 2026 Brittany Boltinhouse has lost her crown following the emergence of posts on social media where she had used a racial slur repeatedly, according to officials in the pageant.

The organization stated that the decision was made following a review of the posts and conduct over time, rather than just one individual post. The organization said that they have zero tolerance for any form of racism, hate, or demeaning language.

Thom Brodeur, chairman of Miss USA, said that the title is one of great trust and once such trust is betrayed, the title holder cannot maintain the position with impunity. Though Boltinhouse is entitled to mercy, accountability was required in this case.

Myla Hadley, first runner-up, has now been crowned to represent North Carolina in the Miss USA competition next month.

Thom Brodeur said that Boltinhouse is expected to apologize.
