Children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel called for an end to violence against children in a brief but pointed Instagram post Saturday, writing: “Stop killing kids.”
The educator and content creator, whose full name is Rachel Griffin Accurso and who is known for her early childhood learning videos, followed the statement with a longer caption appealing for universal protections for children amid escalating violence in Iran.
“Can’t we all agree in this life not to kill children?” she wrote. “I HAVE said the Iranian government needs to stop killing children, too – everyone, everywhere – stop killing, starving, bombing, taking kids hostage & violating children’s human rights. Give them school, give them medical care, give them safe, warm homes, give them everything they need to thrive.”
Her comments came after the Daily Mail reported that at least 85 people were killed in an airstrike on an elementary school in southern Iran, according to claims by the government in Tehran. Regime-controlled outlets Tasnim and Fars said the majority of those killed were schoolgirls between the ages of 7 and 12.
The reported strike hit the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in the city of Minab in Hormozgan province on Saturday morning, as the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran.
