Authorities have released the identity and a photo of the 14-year-old suspect accused of carrying out a deadly shooting at a Georgia high school.
Colt Gray, a student at the school, is believed to be responsible for the incident that left four people dead. According to Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith, a school resource officer confronted Gray shortly after the gunfire erupted, leading to his surrender.
“Gray realized that if he did not give himself up, he would have been shot,” Sheriff Smith stated. The suspect has since been interviewed by investigators from the sheriff’s office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
“His statements are ‘helping our investigation,'” Sheriff Smith added.
While details about the motive behind the shooting remain under investigation, the incident has sent shockwaves through the community. Counseling services have been made available to students, teachers, and staff affected by the tragedy.
