New York rapper Mysonne was arrested in the nation’s capital yesterday for the immigration protest.
Mysonne, along with a number of other activists including Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, were protesting for a clean DREAM Act, a permanent solution for Temporary Protected Status/Deferred Enforced Departure holders, as well as opposing President Trump’s attempts to repeal the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program.
Mysonne was filmed in handcuffs being escorted away by local D.C. police officers. When someone asked him why he was being arrested.
He replied “Because I stand for something,” while being taken away from police he also uttered. “Because black immigration is our problem.”
Mysonne later hit Instagram to reveal he had been released from custody, but there is still more work to do.
Right now they are targeting the Hispanic community but don’t think that you are safe. Just because they are targeting them now doesn’t mean they won’t target you later. We all gotta come together and fight this. Until everybody is free no one is free.
