Netflix’s new Korean romcom, “Can This Love Be Translated?”, is set to launch on January 16th, with its new main trailer already a call to take it easy, step back, and fall in love.
The drama centers on a pair of travelers named Joo Ho jin and Cha Mu hee. They share a common travel experience but are also struggling to comprehend each other. The character Ho jin is portrayed by Kim Seon ho. This is a quiet, reliable interpreter who speaks several languages fluently. Go Youn jung plays the character Mu hee. This character is a world-famous celebrity who dazzles her fans but struggles to put her innermost emotions into words.
The trailer shows the progression of their relations through the picturesque landscapes of Korea, Japan, Canada, and Italy. Each place gives them new memories and feelings, but they also face some distance and misunderstandings in their relationships. Ho-jin may be speaking in multiple languages fluently, but Mu-hee’s feelings are still the most puzzling ones for him. Mu-hee, a very popular actress globally, fails to express her own feelings of love.
“Can This Love Be Translated?” trailer focuses on small, recognizable feelings: the heavy pauses before confessions, the tentative smiles of doubt behind which uncertainty hides, the small actions of care that speak more clearly than words. Audiences will also be shown Do Ra mi, the role that launched Mu Hee’s worldwide popularity, thereby reminding them of the difference between the public face and the private self.
That of Ho jin, on the other hand, encapsulates the series itself. It portrays a setting in Italy where Ho jin and Mu hee stand side by side, while between them, in various languages, love has been written, indirectly conveying that though many options exist on how to say things, they want to understand each other’s language alone.

Written by the Hong Sisters, known for Alchemy of Souls, Hotel Del Luna, and The Master’s Sun, and directed by Yoo Young Eun, who worked on Bloody Heart, this drama is set to bring the same mix of emotions and beauty as its previous works.
Kim Seon-ho of When Life Gives You Tangerines, Hometown Cha Cha Cha, and Start Up, and Go Youn-jung of Resident Playbook and Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow and Sweet Home, Can This Love Be Translated? appears to be quietly and powerfully telling a story of love, communication, and just how hard it is to fully put your heart on your sleeve. _Can This Love Be Translated?_ will premiere January 16, exclusively on Netflix.
