Netflix has released the official trailer for Lonely Planet, a new romance film written and directed by Susannah Grant. The film, set to premiere globally on the streaming service on October 11, 2024, tells the story of a reclusive novelist who finds love and self-discovery while on a writer’s retreat in Morocco.
Starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth, the film follows a novelist seeking inspiration in the remote Moroccan landscape. A chance encounter with a young man leads to a passionate and transformative relationship.
Produced by Liza Chasin, Susannah Grant, and Sarah Timberman, with executive producers Brendan Ferguson, Corinne Weber, and Margaret Chernin, Lonely Planet also features Diana Silvers, Younès Boucif, Adriano Giannini, and Rachida Brakni.
“I wanted to create a film about the transformative power of travel,” said Susannah Grant. “Sometimes, stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to unexpected discoveries and self-growth.”
The trailer offers a glimpse into the stunning Moroccan landscapes and the budding romance between Dern and Hemsworth’s characters.
