We had the opportunity to interview some of the cast of Netflix’s brand new series , Bridgerton. A period piece created by Chris Van Dusen and Executive produced by Shonda Rhimes , is different from most period pieces we are used to or have seen on television. Bridgerton is based on the novels written by author Julia Quinn and is the first show up that will be under Shonda’s Shondaland production company deal with Netflix.
Bridgerton is a romantic period piece set in the 1800s in London England. This is not the average period piece, narrated by the legend Julie Andrews, this series gives the audience a fresh look at show that has a sprinkle of soap operas, romance novels, and a tiny piece of the iconic show Gossip Girl! The show makes sure to also stay current with the music and the soundtrack while playing tunes by artist like Ariana Granda, Taylor Swift and more while keeping it in the classic 1800s style.
Having the opportunity to sit down with four of the cast members, Regé-Jean Page ( Simon Bassett ) , Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton) , Nicola Coughlan(Penelope Featherington) and Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), they each talked about being swept into a different time and place while working on the show while dealing with all of the craziness of the year 2020. Each cast member talked bout how magical it was to wear the costumes, speaking the old language, learn the dance moves and even eat all of the delicious treats and food !
