Nicole Shanahan, the vice-presidential running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has revealed a harrowing and deeply personal experience that nearly took her life during the 2024 presidential campaign.

In an emotional interview, Shanahan shared that she suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks, which led to severe medical complications and a terrifying battle for survival.

The shocking revelation sheds light on the physical and emotional toll of pregnancy complications, especially for women juggling high-profile careers and personal struggles.

“I Almost Lost My Life” Shanahan Details Terrifying Medical Crisis

Shanahan disclosed that she lost an astonishing four liters of blood, the total amount in the human body, pushing her to the very edge of death.

“I almost lost my life… I lost over four liters of blood. You only have four liters of blood, so I lost pretty much everything and pretty much was dying,” she recounted, her voice heavy with emotion.

Her words paint a chilling picture of a woman teetering between life and death, completely drained of the very substance keeping her alive. Few people survive such an ordeal. Shanahan found herself fighting for her life while also mourning the tragic loss of her unborn child.

A Mother’s Desperate Will to Live

Amid the medical emergency, Shanahan was not only battling for herself but for the daughter who still needed her.

“I was dying and was losing a baby… I was taken so close to the end. I could feel it,” she revealed.

Her body was shutting down and yet, in that dark moment, she found an unwavering determination to survive. Shanahan described the experience as surreal, one that left her at peace even as she teetered on the brink of death.

“I actually had peace… and the chaplain came in…” she said, reflecting on what could have been her final moments.

Then, a powerful force took over, her maternal instinct.

“I’m gonna fight because I wanna come back for my daughter, my six-year-old who needs me.”

With these words, she made a life-altering decision. If she survived, she would dedicate herself completely to fighting for her child and for the causes she believes in.

A Prayer for Survival “God, If You Wanna Bring Me Back…”

As the situation grew more dire, Shanahan turned to faith. In a desperate plea, she prayed:

“God, if you wanna bring me back, I’m gonna give it my all.”

It was a moment of surrender and strength, where she accepted her fate but also made a promise to live fully and with purpose if she was granted another chance.

The Road to Recovery and the Fight Ahead

Shanahan’s recovery from this traumatic experience has been both physical and emotional. While she continues to heal, she remains steadfast in her commitment to her political and personal mission.

Her story is not just one of survival but of resilience. It highlights the critical importance of maternal healthcare, the silent struggles women endure, and the unbreakable power of a mother’s love.

As the 2024 election season progresses, Shanahan’s experience adds a deeply personal dimension to her campaign. Her near-death experience will undoubtedly influence the issues she advocates for, making healthcare and women’s reproductive rights central topics in the conversation.
