After the teacher took her phone, a student at Antoich High School in Tennessee was caught on camera pepper spraying the person twice.
Social media users have been discussing the incident that was caught on camera since Friday, May 5, 2023.
A Reddit user, @Lazy_Mouse3803, posted the video in its original form. When the teacher confiscated the student’s phone, she was “texting and Googling answers for her school work,” according to one social media user.
Despite the fact that the student had not pepper sprayed her teacher the first time, the video of her assaulting her teacher a second time went viral.
Social media users are outraged because the offending student is accused of “straight up assaulting” the professor.
This was not the first time something similar happened at Antioch High School. The same teacher reportedly received a punch to the face two months prior after confiscating another student’s phone for cheating.
Many users discussed ways to increase the autonomy of high school teachers. Others debated whether or not the student was permitted to bring pepper spray to school.

Teacher here. Students 100% should be able to carry pepper spray.

If a kid uses it on a teacher, they should be charged with assault plain and simple. https://t.co/Lj4j1VFSOm
Now I’m not saying the pepper spray was ok, but teachers should NOT take students’ phones up! https://t.co/Q6ecXg8Xxy

Pepper spray? Seriously? It’s in the student handbook they give out at the beginning of the year- do not bring your cellphones to school. Kids know the rules and don’t care to follow. What a shame,, this behavior is pathetic and immature. Not justified. 🙅🏼♀️ https://t.co/9oD1dR3pnr

Nah some of y’all just mad weird for defending the student like that. There are rules you have to follow in classes and she pepper spray a teacher. She’s lucky he doesn’t press charges against her https://t.co/Brr0fUsaPM
