World no.1 men’s tennis player Novak Djokovic is being held at the Melbourne airport in Australia after an error with his visa application resulted in his entry to the country being denied.

Djokovic had previously announced that he received an exemption to the country’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement in order to compete in the Australia Open. A member of Djokovic’s team applied for a sub-class of visa that does not apply to people who have received medical exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine, according to The Age and The Times.
