ONE PIECE, the global cultural phenomenon, will continue to sail the high seas of adventure in search of treasure! Netflix has renewed the series for a second season.
Eiichiro Oda, the creator and illustrator of ONE PIECE, confirmed the news today in this special video via Transponder Snail.
In the special video, Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE Creator, Illustrator and Executive Producer says, “To the Straw Hat Grand Fleet: What did you think of Season 1 of the live-action ONE PIECE? I spent a long time working on it with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios. It seems people around the world have been enjoying the show, which makes the hard work from the production team truly worth it.
“To everyone who’s been a fan of ONE PIECE for years, and to those who experienced ONE PIECE for the first time, thank you so much,” Eiichiro Oda says.
“Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news,” Eiichiro Oda says. “Netflix has decided to renew the show! The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward!”
Eiichiro Oda teases that Chopper will be added to the season 2 cast in the video. “From here on, it seems to me the Straw Hats will need a great doctor,” Oda says. Every true ONE PIECE fan knows that Chopper is the doctor of the Strawhat Pirates.

ONE PIECE is the number one title on Netflix worldwide as of this week, with 37.8 million views in less than two weeks since its release.
The series debuted at number one in 46 countries and reached the top ten in 93. It is one of Netflix’s highest audience scores ever, with a 96% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes from 10,000+ ratings.
