Palestinian Supermodel Bella Hadid Named New Face of ADIDAS for 1972 Olympic Shoe Relaunch

Following the launch of their brand platform “We Gave the World an Original, You Gave us a Thousand Back” in 2023, adidas Originals is back this summer to celebrate the legendary SL 72 sneaker.

The SL 72, first introduced in 1972, revolutionized running shoes with its lightweight design. Now, over 50 years later, the timeless silhouette remains a favorite among athletes and fashion enthusiasts alike.

This summer, adidas Originals is reintroducing the SL 72 with a vibrant campaign titled “Blooming with Originals.” The campaign features five colorways of the shoe, available in two distinct iterations: the SL 72 RS and the SL 72 OG. Both come in classic white, red, black, blue, and yellow colorways.

The campaign honors the “Originals” who have embraced the shoe throughout the years. Shot by photographer Kenny Germé, it features a star-studded cast including supermodel Bella Hadid, footballer Jules Koundé, musician A$AP Nast, singer Melissa Bon, and model Sabrina Lan.

Adding another layer to the story, a short film directed by Thomas Lachambre depicts a single SL 72 transforming into a thousand, symbolizing the shoe’s enduring legacy.

“Blooming with Originals” launched on July 15th. Fans can explore the adidas Originals Hub, a one-stop shop for everything SL 72. The Hub features a lookbook showcasing how the Originals family styles the shoe, a style guide, and a deep dive into the shoe’s rich history. Exclusive behind-the-scenes content from the Paris, France campaign shoot lets fans see their favorite stars up close.

The Hub also fosters a sense of community, inviting fans to discover and participate in upcoming events.
