The Philadelphia Eagles and their franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts, reached an agreement on Monday to sign a five-year, $255 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history. The deal got announced by the organization later.

In addition to the first no-trade clause in Eagles history, Hurts’ contract includes $179.304 million in guarantees, with $110 million fully guaranteed at signing and $126.5 million fully guaranteed by March 2024. Another indication that the team has faith in Hurts, who is only 24 years old.

The Eagles quarterback can get an additional $15 million in incentives, giving him a potential salary of $274.304 million through 2028. Which includes the $4.304 million he would have gotten in the final year of his rookie contract this season.

Hurts receives a raise in 2023, which includes a signing bonus of $23.294 million. Through the first year in 2024, Hurts will get paid $64 million. He is currently under contract with the Eagles for the next six years under a deal that gives them the flexibility to keep the team together around him.

Nicole Lynn, Jalen Hurts’ agent, negotiated the largest contract ever signed by a female agent.

Hurts, who was selected 53rd overall in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, started four games in 2020 before becoming the full-time starter the following season. Hurts’ third season in the NFL was his best: he completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 22 touchdowns and six interceptions, ran for another 760 yards and 13 touchdowns, and led the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII. He got named to the Pro Bowl.

The Eagles quarterback new contract has a total guarantee of $179.304 million, second only to Deshaun Watson’s $230 million fully guaranteed five-year deal with the Browns last year.

Just Watson and Horses quarterback Russell Wilson had more cash ensured at marking than Damages’ $110 million. The total amount is second in NFL history, behind only Patrick Mahomes’s $450 million, 10-year contract with the Chiefs in 2020.
