A prominent Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys has announced her departure from the platform where she rose to prominence. On January 30th, the news was announced in a poignant Twitter post, marking what many are calling “the end of an era.”

Pokimane has been an active Twitch user since formally launching her channel in 2014, and she has amassed an incredible 9.3 million followers over the last decade. She has become one of the most recognizable faces on the site, known for her lively personality and sharp sense of humor.

However, her tenure on Twitch has not been free of controversy. In November 2023, Pokimane went on a cookie apology tour after making a disparaging statement about a fan who complained about the pricing of a snack she had marketed. Despite these instances, she has maintained a prominent presence on the network.

Pokimane expressed thanks in her farewell statement for the memories and love she received while streaming several games on Twitch, including League of Legends, Fortnite, and Among Us.

Twitch replied to her statement by congratulating her on an “incredible journey” and expressing pride in her accomplishments, while also looking forward to her next steps in the livestreaming field.

Over the last year, hints of this departure have been clear. In September 2022, Pokimane revealed that Twitch was no longer “creatively fulfilling” for her, indicating a desire to explore alternative platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. True to her intentions, she has been significantly absent from Twitch for nearly four days while actively participating in other social media channels.

As the streaming community awaits Pokimane’s next move, speculation abounds about which platforms she may choose for future initiatives. The streaming scene is replete with opportunities for the renowned content maker, with alternatives including Facebook, Kick (along with notable broadcasters such as Amouranth and xQc), and YouTube (home of Ludwig’s streams).

Pokimane’s exit from Twitch marks a shift in the streaming environment, leaving supporters eager to see what comes next in her live streaming career.
