RAYE Sets BRITs Record with 7 Nominations in a Single Year

The nominations for the 2024 BRIT Awards with Mastercard were revealed in a 30-minute special titled “Bring on The BRITs with Mastercard: The 2024 Nominations,” which was streamed live on the BRITs’ official Facebook page. Yinka Bokinni hosted the special, which included category shortlists and guest appearances from nominated artists, including broadcaster Jack Saunders.

Breaking records and leading the nominations is RAYE, securing an unprecedented seven nods – a feat unmatched since the inception of The BRITs in 1977. This surpasses the previous record of six held by Gorillaz (2002), Craig David (2001), and Robbie Williams (1999). The independent artist and BRIT School graduate is recognized in categories such as Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Pop Act, R&B Act, and two nominations in Song of the Year with Mastercard.

Four-time BRIT winner Dua Lipa claims three nominations, including Artist of the Year, Pop Act, and Song of the Year with Mastercard. She is also the first confirmed performer for the main show on March 2nd, marking her return to The BRITs stage after her 2021 performance.

Central Cee and J Hus each boast four nominations, competing in Hip Hop/Rap/Grime, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year with Mastercard. J Hus adds a nomination for Mastercard Album of the Year alongside Blur, Little Simz, and Young Fathers, each securing three nods.

The Artist of the Year category features a diverse lineup, including Arlo Parks, Dave, Fred again.., Jessie Ware, Little Simz, and Olivia Dean. J Hus and Blur are among the contenders for Mastercard Album of the Year, alongside Calvin Harris, Dave, and Olivia Dean, all with three nominations.

The highly anticipated BRIT Awards 2024 with Mastercard is set to take place on March 2nd, returning to a primetime Saturday night slot. The live broadcast from The O2 arena will air on ITV1 and ITVX, promising a night of musical celebration.
