‘Resort to Love’s’ Christina Milian Shares Her Summer Favorites

Nothing says summertime like falling in love at the beach, and Netflix’s newest rom-com, Resort to Love, takes that to heart. Debuting July 29, the film stars Christina Milian as Erica, a singer who takes a job as in-house entertainment for a beachfront resort to nurse her heartbreak over a broken engagement and a setback in her career. The last thing she expects is to run into her ex-fiancé as he’s preparing to marry someone else—and to fall for his brother.

Filmed on location, the picturesque Resort to Love will have you dreaming of palm trees, pristine beaches, and perfect summer getaways. We caught up with Milian to chat about what it was like filming in Mauritius, as well as her summer favorites, from what she’s listening to right now to her favorite vacation spots.

Resort to Love was filmed on location. What was it like to film in Mauritius?

Heavenly! Mauritius is so beautiful and exotic. The people and culture are beautiful and the food is delicious! There’s so much to do you’ll never be bored there.

What was your favorite thing about the island?

Swimming in the ocean and hiking in the woods. There’s so many outdoor activities you can do. My castmates even swam with dolphins. I missed out on that but I still swam with fish every day.

What was your favorite scene to film?

My disco “I Will Survive” scene. It was my first performance scene. Actually pretty much all the singing scenes I loved. It captured some great and emotional moments for Erica.

What songs and/or artists are you listening to right now? What would you say are the songs of the summer?

I like Doja Cat. She’s fun, gives great performances and really owns it as a woman. I always feel like I wanna be on stage with her when I see her perform!

What are some of your favorite activities during the summer?

I love to go boating. I usually spend most of our summers in south France ‘cause my hubby is French. We love to rent a boat and go out and swim in the middle of the ocean and stop at restaurants on different islands around the area with friends.

How would you describe your fashion or style this summer?

I just want clothing that breathes! It gets so hot I just want to dress like a beach hippie. Add some linens to that and I’m happy.

What are some of your favorite vacation destinations?

I love Turks And Caicos! Clear, warm beautiful waters and good vibes. Puerto Rico for the food, people, beaches, and dancing in the streets.

What are your favorite foods to eat or cook during the summer months?

I love anything spicy. BBQ sausages, fish on the grill with a fresh salad. Mmm, watermelon!

What TV shows or movies have you enjoyed so far this summer?

I’ve mostly been watching series. Right now I’m watching Sex/Life and it’s pretty steamy! Plus, my friend Adam Demos who I did Falling Inn Love with is in it. And I’m happy to support him, but it’s also really good entertainment so far!
