Rihanna has turned a lifetime opportunity of performing at next year Super Bowl. Like her mentor JAY-Z, she let the NFL already know she is in stadiums too. The Barbados Goddess has already sold out arenas and stadium in her iconic career. Rihanna turned down the Super Bowl halftime performance because she rocks with Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick has pretty much been blackballed from the league for taking a knee during the national anthem to spread light on the injustices and police brutality in America.
US Weekly reported that the NFL offered the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show to Rihanna, “but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.”
Thus, the NFL went with Maroon 5 as a fallback option. In an attempt to bring a bit more diversity to the performance, Cardi B is rumored to be joining Maroon 5 as a special guest.
Cardi shouldn’t perform at the Super Bowl just for the culture but I wouldn’t blame her because it does bring a lot of exposure her way and it benefits her career.
Rihanna is everything right now. She has spent time this year building a hospital. Fenty Beauty made history at NYFW this year. She starred in Oceans 8, which debuted at number one in the box office at the time. The only thing the NAVY need from her now is an album.
