Afropop sensation Oxlade has unveiled his latest track and accompanying music video, “ARABAMBI.” The song features a lush, airy instrumental backdrop where Oxlade seamlessly blends Afrobeats, R&B, and pop. In “ARABAMBI,” he passionately yearns for his lover to stay by his side and give him her love forever, setting the stage for his highly anticipated debut album, “Oxlade From Africa,” slated for release this fall.
Oxlade explained the significance of the track, saying, “‘ARABAMBI’ means ‘the child of the people,’ ‘the community gave birth to this child,’ ‘the one.’ It’s also the nickname of K1 De Ultimate, an iconic Nigerian Fuji musician. The melody is inspired by the American singer Miguel and the way he uses his vocals. It’s a love song but it’s still me in my braggadocious elements. It is the original song I was meant to perform for COLORSxSTUDIOS before I swapped it for ‘Ku Lo Sa.’”
The release is complemented by a visually captivating music video that radiates heat and energy, perfectly mirroring the vibrant essence of the track. The video showcases Oxlade and his love interest traveling to tropical locales, basking in each other’s presence amidst stunning scenery.
“ARABAMBI” is the latest teaser from “Oxlade From Africa,” following previous releases like “Intoxycated,” a red-hot collaboration with UK rap star Dave, and the two-pack single “KATIGORI/PIANO.” “Intoxycated” delves into the modern language of love and climbed into the Top 50 of the UK official charts, earning praise from The New York Times and a Hottest Record distinction from BBC Radio 1. This new album builds on the momentum of Oxlade’s massive 2022 hit “Ku Lo Sa,” which has amassed over 541 million global streams.
Oxlade’s mainstream recognition surged last year with a nomination for Best Afrobeats Song at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. This followed his impressive performance at the 2023 Headie Awards, receiving four nominations, including Best Song Of The Year and Best Recording Of The Year. Last summer, he further raised his profile with spectacular live performances, including a show with Usher at the Global Citizen Festival in Ghana and a performance alongside Wizkid at the Accor Arena in France.
“Oxlade From Africa” is set to drop in Fall 2024 via Epic, marking a significant milestone in Oxlade’s rising career and promising to cement his place as a leading figure in the global music scene.
