New evidence has been released revealing that Ryan Palmeter, the mass shooter responsible for taking the lives of three black individuals in a Jacksonville Dollar General, was reportedly able to legally purchase firearms despite having undergone an involuntary mental health exam in the past. These firearms were the ones he used in the racially motivated incident.
Based on documents obtained by Radar Online, it was stated that Palmeter, aged 24, was forcefully admitted to a mental hospital for an initial assessment lasting 72 hours in 2017.
However, since there was no request for his continued confinement, he had the freedom to buy firearms at a later time. As a reminder, we previously shared information about a press release featuring a statement from T.K. Waters, the Jacksonville Sheriff.
Waters found that the dealers – Wild West Guns and Orange Park Gun and Pawn – followed due process. Waters also announced that Palmer had no criminal record. “He was just completely irrational, but with his irrational thoughts, he knew what he was doing. He was 100 percent clear,” he added.
