Stranger Things fans are wondering how Max Mayfield managed to graduate high school despite being in a two-year coma following her Vecna attack in Season 4.
The show fast-forwards over a year and a half, from 1986 to 1987, and some fans point out that this gave Max a chance to recover and catch up on her schoolwork. Others feel that the graduation scenario is still impossible when the discussion includes the idea of summer school.
What Did Social Media Have To Say?
A man jokingly said, “She attended school in Vecna’s memories. duh!”
Another man sarcastically used the motivation angle: “She gave the greatest academic comeback of all time. If Max can go into a coma for 18 months, then spend 18 more grinding to get a degree, then you can too.”
Some people took a jab at our country, with one simply stating, “The U.S. Education System.” Another comment was just so heartless: “As much as I liked her character, it was better to let her character die after the S4 finale.”
One fan broke it down in three steps on how Max could graduate on time with her peers: “1-Summer school, 2-She only missed the rest of freshman year, sophomore year, & beginning of junior year, or 3-Max is a f*cking genius, and she should get her own show.”
“I was a teacher in 2020 during COVID. I assure you they just passed everyone after the events of season 4,” claims one viewer, pointing to even more lax standards of participation during the pandemic: “We were literally told to pass anyone who interacted with a single assignment over the last 2.5 months. Not even did it right, just showed proof of life.”
