Syfy’s “Reginald the Vampire” Cast Talk New Show!

Reginald the Vampire

It’s the spooky season! If you’re looking for a quirky, yet bloody show to dive into this Halloween, this one is for you!

“Reginald the Vampire” centers around the not-so-favorable life of Reginald Andres, your average slushy shop worker, who is extremely unhappy with life and the world around him. With his love life in shambles and stress on the job, he just wants a refund on life. Thanks to a blood-sucking vampire named Maurice, that wish is granted when he sires Reginald into a vampire. Reggie now must learn how to deal with his new life, while keeping it a secret from everyone around him.

I had the pleasure of speaking to the star of the show. Once known as Spiderman’s best friend, but now an inexperienced Vampire, Jacob Batalon. Jacob shared that Reginald’s relatable human journey is what attracted him to the role.

“I just love that Reginald is sort of everyone in a sense. You know, he’s a representation of everyone’s social anxieties, and their stress and their problems that we all collectively share as people.”

A relatable character on a show that was taped during a relatable time of anxiety for all humans, the COVID-19 pandemic. Jacob shared what set life with his castmates was like filming during such strange times.

“I feel like when you’re in a pandemic you try to find people to cling on to and to hang on to and hang out with because that’s all you have and because of that we grew such a great chemistry. Everyone that worked just loved being there.”

I also had the joy of speaking with his castmate Em Haine, who plays Reggie’s love interest, Sarah Kinney. She shared, working with Jacob is actually what created that great set life dynamic.

“Jacob is such a chill, kind-hearted dude despite all his Spiderman fame. I felt super safe and was just so grateful to, you know, be playing like you know this potential romance with someone that I really trust, and someone that I genuinely like. When you have that base of safety, it’s like you can really explore and do some fun stuff together.”

You can watch “Reginald the Vampire” Wednesdays at 10 pm, on the Syfy network!
